Let’s Attain High School Math

Our math example notes will be completed soon. These notes show the correct intermediate steps of odd numbered problems of worksheets from level E to I. Students who have difficulties with writing intermediate steps can use the notes to help themselves getting the right answers. We hope these notes will become instructive tools to many students and encourage students to advance beyond Algebra 1 and 2. Since it is estimated that close to 40% of high school students will not be able to pass the exit exam, it is important than ever before to develop the skills needed to advance into Algebra.

We are also in the process of making our reading example notes, too. These notes illustrate all the grammatical examples displayed in the worksheet from level A1 and above. We will explain the procedures on how to use the notes to reading students as these notes become available. We will have more consistent spelling and vocabulary tests at certain levels to assure students’ mastery of essential skills in reading program.

Because it is very important for us to see that all the students learn essential skills, requirements for passing their tests will be set at least 90% of accuracy. For those students who are not able to reach that percentile will review the section where they did not master. Learning from your own mistakes is vital and our students will be encouraged to do so all the time. Even if students do not pass, it is important for us, instructors and parents, to praise the students on the test where they performed well instead of focusing of their mistakes. We want our students to have positive experiences as they go through their lives.

Our Torrance Center has been operating at a location where we cannot display our signs. Because of this, most of our students were referred by teachers and parents. We are very grateful to them and would like to talk to them, especially teachers.
We would like to report and discuss the progress of the students with the teachers. Paretns, please let us know the name of your teacher who recommended Kumon.

A personal letter from Mr. Nisho

I have been participating one of the study group programs for many years because I want to lead and help our students as much as I can. Even though I am still suffering from chronic leukemia, I have never succumbed to the disease. Currently, I am completing at least 2 to 3 pages of worksheet (level J) every day. I need to rest when my red blood cell count increases more than 20000, but I have determined to do as much as I can. As long as I work as a Kumon instructor, I intend to keep what I am doing because I want our students to achieve their full academic potential.

I am happy to announce that approximately 70 Kumon instructors from all over the United States will be visiting our center this summer. I hope that we can show these instructors what we are capable of achieving. I truly want our students to become genuine independent learners.

I also welcome parents to do Kumon. As long as their child is enrolled in Kumon, parents can take any Kumon’s program for 50% off of the monthly tuition.
